General Information
Samaritan House is a Michigan non-profit tax exempt organization existing to assist our neighbors and has been given 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service. It is operated by fifteen Christian churches in the Romeo, Washington, Bruce, Ray, Armada, Macomb, Shelby Township and Utica. Support comes from the contributions of churches, businesses, civic organizations, and individuals that believe in and want to be a part of this work. We welcome all as a donor, volunteer, or visitor.
History
For many years, St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Romeo provided services to the poor through the establishment of Romeo Community Service Center. In 1994, St. Clement invited other Christian churches in the area to join them in this effort. After several area churches accepted this invitation, a new corporation was formed in January 1995 under the name of Samaritan House.
Community Support
Financial support comes from many areas: sponsoring churches, private individuals, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Four County Community Foundation, VFW, Romeo Lions, Romeo Goodfellow Association, Romeo Kiwanis, Utica-Shelby Kiwanis, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Romeo Community Schools S.E.R.V.E. program, Vacation Bible Schools, and many other community organizations, schools and businesses.
