Events

Samaritan House holds events throughout the year to raise funds needed to provide services to low income people living within our service area.  Additionally, some area organizations hold events and then donate proceeds to Samaritan House.  Check this page often to see the latest news on events that benefit Samaritan House.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner
Spaghetti Dinner

Capital Banquet Center hosted the 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner to benefit Samaritan House on February 1, 2012. Dinner was an all you can eat buffet including two pasta selections, tossed salad, rolls and butter, hot fudge sundaes, and nonalcoholic beverages. Friends, families and neighbors spent a nice evening enjoying each other's company and plenty of good food.  A silent auction was held during the dinner, which helped bring the total money raised to over $4400!

4th Annual Sticks of Romeo Fundraiser Mud Bog

Mud Bog Truck
The mud will be flying again on Saturday, May 5th! Come join the fun! This is a family friendly event where children age 13 & under enter for free. Others enter with a $10 donation.  The event is located on 35 Mile Road just east of Campground Rd.  Food is available from onsite vendors.  Money raised at the mud bog event will be donated to Samaritan House to help feed low income people in northwest Macomb County. We are in need of many volunteers to help park cars and to work the front gate. There will be a volunteer meeting at 5:00pm on March 10th. Please call Kim Dunn at 586-336-9956 if you'd like to volunteer or would like more information.

Tickets are $100 which includes 18 holes of golf w/cart, continental breakfast, lunch on the turn, buffet dinner, contests on the course, and a silent auction. This event is sure to be sold out. We are looking for golfers, volunteers, donors and hole sponsors; and praying for sunny weather. If you are interested in being involved in our outing please contact Kimberly Dunn at 586-336-9956. If you would like to donate or be a hole sponsor you can find more information on our Resources page.

2nd Annual Bowling Extravaganza

bowling pins
Mark your calendar! The 2nd Annual Bowling Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, August 18th. All who joined us for our first Bowling Extravaganza had a great time. There were lots of laughs, prizes, food, fun, a silent auction and of course bowling with friends and family. The $20 entry fee included three games of 9 pin no tap bowling as well as shoe rental, pizza and pop.  Additionally, each bowler had the opportunity to participate in drawings for mystery scores, 50/50 raffle and a strike ball contest. The first Bowling Extravaganza raised over $1800!

Annual Quilt Raffle and Harvest Time Walk

The winning tickets for the 2011
Annual Samaritan House Quilt Raffle were drawn on Sunday, October 2nd.  Maryann Toth was the winner of the first place prize - the Floral Nostalgia queen-size quilt. Marian McLaughlin won the second place prize - the Crochet Hankie Coverlet and Vicki Henry won the third place prize - the Framed Vintage Handkerchief. Congratulations to all of our winners. Thank you to all of our ticket sellers and everyone who purchased raffle tickets. If you did not win a prize this year, stay tuned for 2012.  We know our awesome quilt designer, Jo Hearon, is hard at work on another of her original designs for Samaritan House.

Following the Quilt Raffle drawing, over 125 people participated in the 2011 Samaritan House Harvest Time Walk on a sunny, breezy afternoon. The walkers and sponsors raised approximately $10,000.  This amount is very near the average cost of one month's food expense to supplement the donated food in our pantry.  We would like to thank Greenfield Collision, Swain Family Chiropractic, Romeo Kiwanis, Culligan Water Conditioning, St. Thomas Community Presbyterian Church Deborah Circle, Label Tech, Mary Rayman of Keller Williams Lakeside Realty, Westview Orchards, Thee Office Pub & Cookery, Main Street Bicycles, Macomb Shelby Daybreakers Kiwanis Club, Romeo Rotary Club, Poljan Insurance, Level Health & Fitness, and Hair Designers Co. Salon & Spa for sponsoring this year's event. Thank you to St. John Lutheran Church and First Congregational U.C.C. for hosting our walkers and of course Cora Bell the Clown (Sandy Krause) for greeting the walkers.
